Diamond Chapter of the

APRIL 2010 NEWS LETTER

Hi Everyone!

Well, We have been having wonderful blue sky weather and lo and behold winter tried to come back this Sunday for the VFW Poker Run. However, the rain held off and every one had a great time and a good turn out. The Diamond Chapter had a concurrent bike show and gave 10 plaques to the entrants. The Poker Run ended up at Terry Martins where hot dogs, hamburgers and chili was served for lunch. Below are club members Greg Bright and Marvin Vaughter flipping to see who gets a winning plaque. A two headed penny was used and Marvin lost! Greg kept the penny too!

In case you wondering why the club project bike is taking so long to complete take a look at four grown men trying to put our tent in its bag And these guys are grown men…………..I think! After a mighty struggle they finally made it and all’s well! We need to get started again on the project bike! I hope it doesn’t end up looking like our tent! Ugh!

Take a close look at new club member Eric Maurus bike is and tell us what it is at the next club meeting.

We will meet at Landers HarleyDavidson in Hot Springs and leave at 8AM. It is an easy ride to Fordyce where the motorcycles have the honor and the fun of leading a small town AllAmerican Parade where the entire county is lining the road and sidewalks. They have great bands and marching units as well as every kind of vehicle you can imagine in this parade! Ever seen a squadron of riding lawnmowers in formation? Come to Fordyce! It really is America at it’s best.

CANNONBALL RUN

If you do not know it by know the Cannon Ball Run will be going though Arkansas and spending their only day of rest here in Hot Springs. Sept 1618 The Course Master John Claussen told Mike that their will approx. 150 people with the run counting support people. This is a great opportunity for Hot Springs and Arkansas to step up and and show our stuff and as most of you know ,I feel we are the best kept secret in America. There will be Press people and Magazine editors as well as magazine and paper journalists who, we hope, will get a great impression of Arkansas and Hot Springs and will want to come back and write about us. John Hollansworth, who is a club member, said that one of these runs is like a traveling circus there is so much excitement around it. There already has been a nice article about Hot Springs in the Cannon Ball website. Steve Arrison at the Convention and Visitors Bureau has done an outstanding job getting the facilities ready for them when they hit town. I cannot say enough good things about the way he has handled this event. Really first class!

I am talking to several hotels here about a week booking deal that would include the Open Rally and the Cannonball. Will let you know what takes place. Ed

Thumbs up to Landers Harley Davidson in Hot Springs for opening their shop during the Cannon Ball at no charge for any entrant to work on his bike!
