DIAMOND CHAPTER-ARKANSAS NOVEMBER 2010 NEWSLETTER

Hi Everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone and have a great Holiday Season! We will start off with a reminder that our November Club meeting will be held at Cranford’s Grocery on Highway 5 . This Sunday,November 21st at 1:00 if you want to grab a bite they have a deli. The formal meeting will start at 2PM. Go to the right rear of the grocery and you will see an elevator and steps. Your choice! For a landmark there is a Shell station across the street near Hot Springs Village Back Gate.

CLUB CHRISTMAS PARTY The Club Christmas Party will be held at Whole Hogs Bar B Q in the Temperance Hill Shopping Center on 7 South near Landers Harley- Davidson on December 19th Sunday. Please bring a gift that is motorcycle related as we will play “Dirty Santa” again this year. Please, no golf balls, etc. If you want lunch it will be at 1PM and the Party will start at 2PM

NEWS ALERT The National Park Service has informed The Club that they are going to renovate the Arlington Lawn beginning in May and the Lawn may not be available to us for our event. As they do not know how long it may take. Your tax dollars at work folks!

We need to discuss alternate sites. The City has offered Hill Wheatly Park with the provision we keep the Visitors Center Parking Clear. It is right Downtown and is a good but small location. Greg Dingler proposed the North end of the Oaklawn Race Track parking lot which is not used for Casino parking and also is on Central Ave.

Anyone with alternate sites in mind please bring them to the Club Meeting this Sunday.

Our hearts and prayers go out to the Saddle Tramps Motorcycle Club in California which suffered a catastrophe this week while on a club ride.

A car attempted to pass 21 bikes at once and had a near miss with an oncoming car which in turn lost control and plowed into the bikers killing 4 and injuring 6. Lots of head injuries as it appears no one was wearing a helmet. Because of the remoteness of the area it took 45 minutes for responders to arrive. This came out of nowhere so be alert out there.

MEETING AT GULPHA GORGE We had 31 members come to the Gorge for potluck where we had chili and chili dogs. We had a chili contest won by Ed Olds and in second place was Susie Parker, Third was Martin Brown and last but not least was Bill McSorley. The weather was perfect and it was a beautiful day.
